Kalpetta: Sr. Lucy Kalapura, who joined the protest demanding arrest of Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulakkal, is facing action from the church authority. The nun has complained that the parish has removed her from performing duties related to church.

She has been restricted from teaching catechism and performing holy mass at the church.

She is an inmate of Karakkal convent under Mananthavady Syro Malabar church and a member of Franciscan Clarist Congregation.

The nun alleged that the church took revenge for participating in the protest against bishop.

“Mother Superior informed me about the restriction. She told me that the restriction was imposed as directed by the parish priest,” said Sr Lucy while responding to Mathribhumi News.

Sr Lucy arrived at the convent on Sunday morning after the nuns called off the strike following bishop’s arrest. She had also responded to the media declaring support to the protest. It is learned that the response irked the church and led to the action against the nun.
