HC quashes vigilance probe against TP Senkumar | Kerala High …

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has revoked a vigilance department probe against former state police chief T P Senkumar. The court order comes in response to Senkumar’s petition pointing out that the inquiry was prompted by malicious intentions.

The probe was set up on an order from the vigilance court in Thiruvananthapuram.

The High Court had the other day raised the question as to why the state government was so enthusiastic about cases against Senkumar, who had won a Supreme Court order to retake his post as director general of police from which he was ousted after Pinarayi Vijayan took over as chief minister. The court asked if the government was seeking revenge on him for returning as police chief with apex court support and retiring later from that post.

The court commented that the government does not show such enthusiasm in other cases. There are so many other issues here, including murder cases, the court pointed out.

The questions were raised while considering a plea from Senkumar in a case over charges that he presented fake medical certificates to avail of his leave. The prosecutor’s reply to the court’s queries was that the government does not have any personal enmity towards Senkumar.
