Devotees throng temple for Makaravilakku

Sabarimala: Hundreds and thousands of pilgrims have assembled at the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple to get a glance of the famed Makara Jyothi here at Sunday evening.

The ‘deeparadhana’ will take place at 6.40 pm after ornamenting the deity with the ‘thiruvabaranam’ brought from Pandalam Palace.

At this time, the ‘Makaranakshatram’ shine on the sky and on the east the ‘Makara Jyothi’ will be seen. After the Makaravilakku, a makarasamkrama pooja will be held. The sacred ghee brought from the Kavadiyar palace would be poured over the deity.
