Kochi: Former North Paravoor magistrate M Smitha has given statement against SI Deepak who is accused in the Varappuzha custodial death case.

The magistrate has given statement that SI Deepak had brutally assaulted persons accused in cases earlier and that he is a trouble maker.

The Magistrate has given the statement to the Vigilance wing of the High Court.

The Magistrate’s statement is included in the report prepared by the Vigilance Registrar of the High Court which rejects the police complaint against the Magistrate.

The Magistrate has raised serious allegations against SI Deepak.

“Deepak had physically assaulted the accused in several cases earlier. It was Deepak’s habit to arrest the accused violating the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court” The Magistrate says that she had given warning to SI Deepak several times in this regard.

Magistrate Smitha’s statement will prove crucial in Sreejith’s custodial death case. According to reports, the special investigation team probing the case will record the magistrate’s statement.

IG Sreejith’s report said that SI Deepak, who was on leave the day Sreejith was nabbed, visited the police station the same day.

The probe team had also received evidence which proves that SI Deepak assaulted Sreejith.
